Former HPD officer sentenced to probation in connection with deadly Harding Street raid: attorney
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A former Houston police officer was sentenced to probation on Tuesday in connection with the deadly Harding Street raid in 2019, his attorney told ABC13.
According to his attorney, Steven Bryant appeared in court Tuesday afternoon, where he was sentenced to five years of probation.
Over six years ago, on Jan. 28, 2019, a fake 911 call resulted in a no-knock warrant from the Houston Police Department's narcotics squad at the home of husband and wife Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas. The Harding Street raid left Tuttle, Nicholas, and their dog dead from a rain of police gunfire in their own southeast Houston home. Four police officers were also injured.
Bryant and fellow former HPD officer Patricia Ann Garcia pleaded guilty in 2021 to a federal charge of obstructing justice by falsifying records.
"We are grateful to the Court for considering his cooperation with authorities and for giving him the well-earned opportunity to begin a new chapter in his life," Bryant's attorney said in a statement. "Mr. Bryant will not take this opportunity for granted."
